Game of Thrones's Sophie Turner: 'I got a job over a better actress because I had more followers'

Image
Hollywood prides social media following over acting talent – or at least that's what Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has experienced. The actress revealed in an interview with Porter magazine that she landed a part over a superior actress because she "had the followers". Turner has been in the spotlight since her teens after being cast as the ill-fated princess Sansa Stark in the hit HBO fantasy series, aged 14. It meant that she swiftly built up a considerable following on Twitter (1.34 million), Instagram (5.4 million) and Facebook (2 million), which she says helped her in auditions. She told Porter: "A lot of what I have achieved is about timing and luck, but it is also, and I hate to say it, about a big social-media following. "I auditioned for a project and it was between me and another girl who is a far better actress than I am, far better, but I had the followers, so I got the job. It’s not right, but it is part of the movie industry now...

Game of Thrones' Cersei Lannister dropped another hint she's turning into the Mad Queen

Image
We might not like to admit it, but Cersei Lannister is currently winning in Game of Thrones. 'The Queen's Justice' saw Daenerys left with basically no allies as Jaime Lannister got rid of Olenna Tyrell and Cersei (Lena Headey) got her revenge on Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) for killing her daughter. And what a revenge it was, with Cersei leaving Ellaria chained up to watch her daughter slowly die from poison in front of her eyes. As well as being a chilling scene, it turns out that the Game of Thrones showrunners were potentially dropping another hint that Cersei is turning into the Mad Queen, following her use of wildfire in the explosive season six finale. Cersei's revenge against Ellaria has parallels with the Mad King, Aerys Targaryen, and his punishment of Rickard Stark, Ned's father. Aerys had Rickard tied up and burned alive as Ned's brother Brandon watched, eventually strangling himself to death to free himself from a noose to reach the s...

Game of Thrones Star Says She Got Acting Role Because She Has Millions of Social Media Followers

Image
Sophie Turner, best known as Sansa Stark in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, has a lot of followers on social media. And according to Turner, producers take that kind of thing into consideration when casting different projects. In fact, Turner says that she only got a recent acting gig because she has a large presence on social media. Turner has built up a huge audience online, with 1.35 million followers on Twitter, 5.4 million followers on Instagram, and over 2 million followers on Facebook. And according to a new interview, those numbers helped her secure a role that may have been better suited to an actress with fewer followers. “A lot of what I have achieved is about timing and luck, but it is also, and I hate to say it, about a big social-media following,” Turner said in the latest issue of Porter magazine. “I auditioned for a project and it was between me and another girl who is a far better actress than I am, far better, but I had the followers, so I got the job,” Tu...

Game of Thrones: 8 Easter Eggs and Callbacks You Might Have Missed in “The Queen’s Justice”

Image
Season 7, Episode 3 of Game of Thrones had plenty of plot twists and shocking moments to keep even the most casual viewer coming back for more. But after a few re-watches, even more layers of the story come to light. Here’s a spoiler-free look at all the book and show references, callbacks, and Easter eggs you might have missed from “The Queen’s Justice.” In Defense of Ned: As hesitant as we are to contradict the Mother of Dragons (especially when she’s in full, imperious queen mode), we should probably stand up for Ned Stark here. Daenerys besmirches Ned’s honor by implying that he was complicit in any or all of the assassination attempts on her life. In fact, Ned threw down with his best friend Robert several times over the safety of both Daenerys Targaryen and her unborn child in Season 1. He even (temporarily) quit as Hand of the King over it, declaring: “You’re speaking of murdering a child.” I’m sure Lord Varys—who was in the room when that happened—would have come to N...

'Game Of Thrones' Fans, You Might Wanna Stay Off The Internet, 'Cos HBO Just Got Hacked

Image
If 2017 had to be the year of the cyber attack, HBO might have hoped that their time would come after the current season of Game Of Thrones was done. No such luck, though — with over half of Season 7 still to air, some sad hacker has decided to target the channel, stealing 1.5 terabytes of their data, presumably just to ruin Thrones for the 10 million+ people who watch it religiously. The company announced Monday afternoon that they had "recently experienced a cyber incident." Here's the statement in full: "HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold." What's actually contained within the leak isn't yet known, although the hackers have released upcoming episode...

'Game Of Thrones' Season 7 Theory: Is This The Reason Bran Was Acting Strange With Sansa?

Image
Everyone seemed to agree on one thing about the latest Game of Thrones episode — the dialogue and the acting was the best of the season so far, the show at its finest, apart from Bran Stark. Finally reunited with sister Sansa after years in the wilderness, Bran's return to Winterfell was anti-climatic thanks to his stone-face and controversial way of revealing his powers of omnipresence. At their first meeting, as Sansa stood, teary-eyed and taken aback at the sight of her brother, Bran didn't even crack the slightest of smiles, doing his best impression of a socially awkward teenager who passively skim-read "How To Be Cool For Dummies." Things got even weirder later; as he explained his new role as the Three-Eyed Raven meant he could see everything, he decided to tell Sansa she looked pretty the night she married (and was viciously raped by) Ramsay Bolton. Not strange at all, mate. But there could be a valid reason for Bran's bizarre behavior, and for now...

Speech From Game Of Thrones Season One Predicts Outcome Of Season 7

Image
I think by now everybody knows that the Game of Thrones writers are pretty damn clever. They clearly think things out seasons in advance and have probably got the whole thing locked-in until the end of the series. So when a fan notices a conversation from way back in season 1 that only comes full circle in the latest episode, it’s not hard to argue that this was probably not a coincidence. Cersei is pretty unstable, she’s actually a full-blown megalomaniac by all Game of Thrones accounts, and she’s more than likely going to meet a very sticky end. To fully support this, Redditor pnr32 highlighted a conversation from season one episode 5: I know she wont want to do it this way, but they're (kind of) all she has left... Cersei Lannister: He's not serious enough. I'll say this for Ned Stark: he's serious enough. Was it really worth it? Losing him this way? [Robert places the cup on the table and stands] Robert Baratheon: I don't kno...

Game Of Thrones Season 7 Leaked Online After HBO Hack

Image
The (cyber) wall of HBO has been breached and now details of GOT season seven have been leaked online. While not as damaging as the infamous four-episode leak of season five, which caused HBO to no longer give early screen copies to press outlets, the leaking of season seven scripts is no less ideal. According to Wired, an ‘untold number’ of journalists received the same email claiming that ‘1.5 TB of HBO data just leaked!!!’. The email, that was addressed ‘to all mankind’, promised to deliver ‘the greatest leak of space era’ and provided a link to details of an unreleased GoT episode as well as HBO’s other shows Ballers, Insecure, Room 104 and Barry. HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler confirmed that a leak at the successful network had taken place. In an email to HBO staff he explained: "There has been a cyber incident directed at the company which has resulted in some stolen proprietary information, including some of our programming" The Hack...

Tiny Moment From Game Of Thrones Ep 4 Preview You’ll Have Missed

Image
Game of Thrones preview trailers notoriously do not give much away but an exciting detail or two are sneaked in for fans to spot. This is particularly true last night when we got given a glimpse at what is coming up in the fourth episode titled The Spoils of War. In the 30-second trailer, right at the very end, there is a quick shot of Drogon, one of the dragons born in the Dothraki Sea. At first glance there is nothing particularly exciting about what is just another shot of a dragon. However, Reddit user 'vanceco' has pointed out that if you take a closer look things are not as they seem. Of course it is impossible to tell from the video but that may be Daenerys on the back on Drogon riding into battle. Or it may just be an extra shiny part of Drogon's body... Even if it is nothing we can still get excited about it right?

HBO Hacked: Game Of Thrones Data Leaked Online

Image
Hackers have managed to break into the HBO networks. According to the reports from EW, hackers have leaked the unreleased episodes of TV Shows. The email from the hackers which was sent to few reporters labeled the leak as the greatest leak of ‘CYBERSPACE ERA’. Well, the world has just faced the massive cyber attack of Ransomware like Petya and WannaCry. A few days ago we have seen a group of hackers managed to steal from Disney the film Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Now, hackers have managed to break into the HBO networks. According to the reports from EW, hackers have leaked the unreleased episodes of TV Shows. The reports also claim that hackers have claimed to grab the script of upcoming Game of Thrones. The leaked episodes are said to be belonging to Room 104 and Ballers. According to the reports from EW, HBO has confirmed the leak in a statement by saying “HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information” ...

Jon And Daenerys Finally Meet & It's The Funniest Scene In The History Of 'Game Of Thrones'

Image
The meeting of ice and fire finally happened and there was a lot of steam that was let out. A scene every GOT fan has been looking forward to, the meeting of Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow was by far one of the most comical scenes in the series. We've lost count of the number of times Dany has reiterated her Targaryen-mother-of-dragons-heir-to-Iron-Throne identity. As Missandei rattles on with parrot-like ease, we feel for Jon Snow and Ser Davos. on needs better PR For a moment there, we thought you were actually about to bend the knee, Snow. Daenerys newfound overconfidence hasn't gone down well with fans and we are just waiting for the moment when Jon Snow's real identity is revealed. Twitter had some hilarious reactions to Dany's narcissist tirade. Seriously, sistah?!

We Bet You Missed This Important Detail In The Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 Trailer

Image
Yesterdays 'Game of Thrones' episode brought some major twists and turns. From major meet-ups to some diplomacy plans, it goes without saying that the 4th episode of GOT seventh season is already getting people excited. A week is left for the next episode and things are going to get a lot more intense and interesting. We don't know much of what to expect from it, as the 30 seconds trailer hardly gives out a lot of what's in store for us. The makers every now and then are giving us a small piece of the cake and man, that's enough to raise our expectations and build our curiosity. The trailer of GOT season 7 episode 4 ‘The Spoils of War' shows Daenerys telling Jon Snow, "All my allies are gone, I'm losing.” Well, well, that's indeed a tough situation, let's count all the people she lost: Tyrell: defeated, Euron: defeated....... Dothraki and the Unsullied: trapped at the Casterly Rocks and House of Martell: they might end soon too! Cer...

Why a Tiny Game of Thrones Trailer Detail Has Fans Worried for Cersei Lannister

Image
If Game of Thrones were a more conventional story, there would be no doubt at all that at some point during the final two seasons of the HBO series, Cersei Lannister would get a comeuppance for all the evil deeds she’s done. But Game of Thrones, remember, gained such a purchase on the pop culture in the first place for subverting those expectations. The noble Starks were dying like flies and the Westerosi schemers kept winding up on top. So, no, it wouldn’t entirely surprise me if, when all is said and done, Cersei Lannister managed to survive both the Clash of Kings and the Great War to come. But a tiny detail from the trailer has some book-reading fans a little worried for her—or eagerly anticipating her demise? It’s hard to track where Cersei stands with the people these days. What follows is not a spoiler, merely observations laced with book knowledge. The Season 7 trailer came out a few days ago so, by now, Game of Thrones fans have had the chance to break it down in mo...
